Meet Encino Dentist Dr. Allan Melnick
If ever there was a person born to a particular profession, it's me. Needless to say, I love my work and my patients. I believe this is one of the major reasons why my practice has become so successful.
I am a native of California and was born and raised in West Los Angeles. I did my undergrad at UCLA and The State University of New York, majoring in math. After graduating from USC School of Dentistry, I moved to Encino where I reside today.
My hobbies include electronics and gardening. I have been a ham radio operator since the age of 16. I haveenjoyed chatting with other amateur radio operators fromall over the world.In addition, I also have built my own radio station and equipment such as transmitters and receivers from scratch.
I am also passionate about gardening and have become an expert in rare fruits. I've written several articles on this subject. There are currently 17 varieties of rare fruit trees growing at my home. I also enjoy growing roses and houseplants. I must have a green thumb. Even my house plants do well.
Animal rescue is one of my great loves and I am proud to have helped place many abandoned dogs. Currently I reside with a couple of pound puppies. Murphy is from the East Valley Shelter and is a very active black terrier mix. My palJoey is from the East Los Angeles Shelter. He is a lap-loving Corgy mix. Both are cute, smart, overweight and spoiled.

Community Involvement
I enjoys being active in the community. I am especially interested in environmental and conservation issues. I support such organizations as Save the Bay and the Sierra Club.In addition I am involved in not only animal causes but people causes. I regularly support programs such as our localSOVA Food Bank.
